Motorcyclist Killed in Rear-End Crash in Shepherd, Investigation Ongoing

One person is dead following a motorcycle crash in Shepherd on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 312 near Shining Mountain Drive, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. The deceased motorcyclist was a 69-year-old man from Billings. The other vehicle involved was a Subaru Impreza driven by a 25-year-old woman from Billings, who had a 3-year-old girl as a passenger.

Authorities reported that the motorcyclist was slowing down to turn into a nearby business when the Subaru rear-ended his Harley Davidson. He was at the scene. The driver and child were transported to the hospital with minor injuries as a precaution.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Derek White indicated that alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
