WAIANAE, Hawaii (Island News) – A motorcyclist was hospitalized following a serious hit-and-run incident on Lualualei Homestead Road at approximately 11:40 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities said a 28-year-old man was traveling westbound when an unidentified driver, heading southbound on Moekahi Street, entered the intersection and collided with the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist attempted to evade the driver, swerving into the eastbound lane before crashing onto a sidewalk and hitting a wooden fence.
The driver did not stop and continued southbound on Moekahi Street. Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to a hospital in serious condition, with police confirming he was not wearing a helmet.
At this time, it is unclear if speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
