Motorcycle Rider Dies in Crash on State Hwy 81 in Green County.

MONROE, Wis. — A tragic crash claimed the life of a 68-year-old man from Argyle on Wednesday afternoon along State Highway 81 in the Town of Jordan. The incident occurred around 2:01 p.m. in the W7800 block, located approximately 7.5 miles northwest of Monroe.

According to the Green County Sheriff's Office, a 28-year-old woman from Monroe, driving a westbound sport utility vehicle, failed to yield while attempting a left turn into a driveway. As a result, the SUV crossed into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

Emergency responders, including the Browntown Fire Department, Monroe Rural Fire Department, and Green County EMS, arrived at the scene, but the motorcycle operator was at the location. Chief Deputy John M. Schuetz confirmed that the motorcyclist was wearing eye protection but was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The sport utility vehicle sustained significant damage on its passenger side due to the collision.

State Highway 81 remained closed for over four hours as authorities conducted their investigation, with the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit taking part in the scene analysis.

As of now, the names of those involved in the crash have not been disclosed. This incident marks the fourth traffic fatality reported in Green County for 2026.
