One person was killed and another injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. 64 in Tyrrell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 4:21 p.m. on Alligator Bridge. Investigators reported that the motorcycle was traveling east when it crossed the centerline and struck the bridge rail on the westbound side, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
The driver, identified as 68-year-old Jeffery Lynn Baker of Mooresville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 40-year-old Megan Michelle Baker of Kannapolis, was transported to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
