Montgomery Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 85
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 claimed the life of a Montgomery man on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near mile marker 2, within Montgomery city limits. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 50-year-old Dakus M. Nixon was driving a 2008 Freightliner Box truck when he rear-ended another vehicle. Following the collision, the box truck struck a concrete barrier.
Authorities reported that Nixon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash. Further details have not been released.
