A vehicle accident in Miami on March 17, 2024, involving potential NFL Draft prospect Rueben Bain has raised concerns following a fatality.
According to The Read Optional, Bain's vehicle collided with another car before striking concrete barriers, resulting in serious injuries to one passenger, Destiny Betts, a 22-year-old college student. She passed away on June 13, 2024, after never regaining consciousness.
The incident involved four passengers, including Bain's teammates Wesley Bissainthe and Nyjalik Kelly. Authorities reported that Bain's vehicle, owned by Miami Sports 27 Inc., sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
The police crash report indicated Bain “operated his vehicle in a careless or negligent manner.” No field sobriety test was conducted at the site, although Bain was cited for careless driving, a charge later dismissed shortly before Betts' death.
Multiple league sources acknowledged awareness of the situation and have initiated an investigation. The impact on Bain's draft prospects remains uncertain, according to reports.
