Arizona Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run While Heading to Barrel Race.

Tucson, AZ – July 11, 2023 – A fatal crash claimed the life of 29-year-old Kyrsten Sovereign while she was en route to a barrel race.

The incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. on Highway 10 near Mile Marker 250. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (ADPS), Sovereign's vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling in the same direction.

Authorities reported that the impact caused Sovereign's vehicle to spin off the roadway. Emergency responders from the Tucson Fire Department arrived at the scene but pronounced her dead shortly after. No other injuries were reported.

The offending vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup, fled the scene following the collision. ADPS has launched an investigation into the crash and is seeking information on the suspect's vehicle.

Traffic on Highway 10 experienced temporary lane closures as investigators processed the scene. As of late afternoon, authorities had not identified any witnesses willing to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the ADPS.
