Massachusetts man expresses gratitude to good Samaritans who saved him from a fiery car crash.

Easton, Mass. — A 78-year-old man is recovering after a fiery crash on Route 138 involving his truck and a parked dump truck loaded with .

According to authorities, Francis Leverone was driving his 2013 Ford F-350 when he collided with the stationary truck on February 15 at approximately 2:41 p.m. Witnesses reported that a 2024 Toyota Camry struck the rear of Leverone's vehicle, igniting both vehicles.

Leverone became trapped in the truck after sustaining a dislocated right hip and a broken wrist. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and were assisted by two bystanders who broke a window to free him. “I was hurting, trying to get me out of that window,” Leverone said.

He was transported to a local hospital and is now recovering at Encompass Health Rehabilitation in Braintree. Leverone expressed gratitude for the good Samaritans and emergency personnel who saved his life, stating, “God bless them.”

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene. The Easton Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
