LENEXA, KS — A high-speed crash on 123rd Street left one person dead and two others injured on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. near the intersection with Pflumm Road. Authorities say a sedan, traveling in excess of 125 mph, collided with another vehicle, resulting in a multi-vehicle crash involving three cars in total.
One driver, a 32-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other individuals sustained significant injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
The LENEXA POLICE DEPARTMENT and KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang as the vehicles collided.
Emergency responders closed off several lanes on 123rd Street to facilitate the investigation and the removal of the wreckage. Towing services were dispatched shortly after the incident to clear the scene.
