A 63-year-old man died following a crash in New Castle on October 8, 2023, according to Delaware State Police.
Authorities responded to the intersection of Pleasant Place and Route 273 (Christiana Road) at approximately 5:45 p.m. They discovered William Collins critically injured.
Collins was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day, police confirmed.
According to investigators, a 39-year-old man from Newark was driving a Nissan Titan west on Route 273 when Collins, who was in a wheelchair, began crossing at a marked crosswalk. The driver had a green light at the time of the incident.
The driver sustained no injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, authorities said.
