LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WCHS) — A 69-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 243 Friday morning.
Timothy R. Pemberton of Ironton lost control of his vehicle shortly after 9 a.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. His vehicle crossed the center line and struck an embankment after veering off the left side of the roadway.
Emergency responders transported Pemberton to an Ashland, Kentucky hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities stated that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
The highway was temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
