WINSLOW, ME — A Waterville man died early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle crash on Augusta Road.
First responders were dispatched to the scene around 12:39 a.m., discovering a 2004 Chevy Impala approximately 90 feet off the road, according to Winslow Police Chief Shawn O'Leary.
The driver, Gabriel Stuart, 52, along with passengers Tiffany Hulbert, 29, and an infant, all required extraction from the vehicle. O'Leary confirmed that both Stuart and Hulbert were wearing seatbelts, while the infant was secured in a child seat.
Hulbert was transported to Thayer Hospital in Waterville, treated, and subsequently released. The infant was initially taken to Thayer Hospital before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland for precautionary evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
Stuart was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains undetermined and is under investigation. Winslow police will conduct follow-up interviews, and Maine State Police will perform a reconstruction of the incident. A blood sample from Stuart has been sent to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services lab for analysis as per state law.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
