Man dies in Nottoway County crash that injured two others, state police report.

NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. — A man died from injuries sustained in a crash on Route 460 early Sunday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

Troopers responded to the scene on the eastbound side of Route 460, just east of Cox Road, at 1:55 a.m.

Authorities reported that a 2024 sedan veered off the left side of the road and collided with two trees.

The driver and a female passenger were to a local hospital for treatment. A rear-seat passenger, identified as 40-year-old Clarence Eugene Jones Jr. of Petersburg, was also flown to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities noted that Jones was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The incident is under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
