Violent Crash Involving Dallas Police Cruiser Injures Two Officers, Kills Juvenile Suspect

A crash involving a marked Dallas police cruiser resulted in injuries to two officers and the death of a juvenile robbery suspect early Friday morning on West Northwest Highway.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 3100 block, just north of Dallas Love Field. Authorities said the sequence began with a robbery call at approximately 1:40 a.m. in the 9800 block of Dale Crest Drive, where three juveniles allegedly robbed a victim at gunpoint, stealing their vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, officers located the stolen and requested backup to apprehend it. The marked police cruiser, carrying two officers, subsequently collided with the stolen vehicle.

Both officers were transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital and have since been released. All three occupants of the stolen vehicle sustained injuries, with two in critical condition. One occupant later died at the hospital.

Due to their ages, the names of the juvenile suspects will not be disclosed, authorities confirmed. Nearby security footage captured the crash, showing the suspect vehicle traveling against traffic before the collision, while police vehicles with emergency lights followed.

Investigations are ongoing, and the West Northwest Highway was closed for several hours at Webb Chapel Road but has since reopened.

Dallas police are continuing to assess the situation as cleanup operations were conducted by TxDOT.
