RAYMOND, Miss. — Two people died in a head-on collision on Highway 18 in Hinds County shortly after 4 a.m. on Friday.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a Honda SUV and a Chevrolet pickup truck crashed while traveling in opposite directions. Justin Campbell, 29, of Petal, was driving the pickup and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Ursula Hunley, 51, of Utica, was driving the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her twin sister, Damaris Hunley, was a passenger in the SUV and was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
Authorities confirmed that both lanes of Highway 18 were closed for several hours as first responders attended to the scene and conducted their investigation. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Further details will be released as they become available.
