Injury reported in multi-vehicle crash on Missouri River Bridge

One person was injured in a crash on the Missouri River Bridge at Jefferson City Wednesday night, closing two northbound lanes.

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the incident occurred at 9:11 p.m. A 61-year-old woman from Columbia was driving a Nissan Frontier, towing a utility trailer, when she attempted to change lanes.

The Nissan struck a 2024 Buick Encore driven by a 25-year-old man from Holts Summit. This collision caused the Buick to hit the outer wall of the bridge, and the Nissan followed suit, also crashing into the wall. A third vehicle, a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 46-year-old man from Fulton, was unable to avoid the debris from the Nissan's trailer.

Emergency crews worked for approximately 45 minutes to clear the scene and reopen the affected lanes. The driver of the Nissan was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
