Aurora Police Chase Leads to Crashes and Carjacking

A police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Aurora resulted in two crashes, a foot chase, and a carjacking on Friday morning.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers attempted to stop a driver near Hoffman Boulevard and Potomac Street. The suspect fled, leading to a crash involving the stolen vehicle near the junction of E-470 and Interstate 70, according to Gabby Easterwood, Public Information Officer for the Aurora Police Department.

A passenger in the stolen vehicle was taken to a hospital and subsequently into custody, while the driver fled on foot, unsuccessfully attempting to carjack another vehicle around 9:45 a.m.

The suspect then stole a , continuing to evade officers until crashing near E. 40th Avenue and Tower Road at about 10 a.m. This incident involved multiple vehicles and temporarily closed the northbound lanes of Tower Road. The suspect was the only reported injury and remained as of 2 p.m. Friday. Authorities had not provided an update on his condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
