AUSTIN, TX – A private jet crash in Greenacres, Florida, on November 1, killed nine people, including a Texas family of four.
According to authorities, the flight departed Austin at 10:37 a.m. en route to the Bahamas. At 12:47 p.m., the crew reported icing and turbulence, requesting to climb to 55,000 feet. Less than 30 seconds later, the aircraft rapidly descended and issued a Mayday call before breaking apart mid-air.
Among the deceased are Texas residents Adam Robinson, 44; Helen Sharp, 42; and their two children, ages 4 and 2. They were traveling with two friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, along with pilot Jeff Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha, 20.
Emergency responders evacuated nearby residents and treated one individual on the ground. Mayor Sara Baxter declared a county emergency in response to the crash, which created a debris field spanning 1.2 miles.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, focusing on icing as a potential factor. Authorities urge witnesses to report any photos or videos to the NTSB and caution against disturbing debris.
Official identifications of all victims are pending as investigations continue.
