CHAMPAIGN — Newly elected District 1 City Council member Clarissa Nickerson Fourman is set to appear in court on July 20 for a misdemeanor charge.
At 6:06 p.m. on June 7, according to CHAMPAIGN POLICE, Fourman was ticketed for leaving the scene of a property damage accident involving a Mercury Mountaineer. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Paula Drive, approximately two blocks from her residence.
“I haven't had a chance to have it resolved,” Fourman told reporters on Tuesday. She confirmed that she has hired an attorney, clarifying that her firm affiliations are with Thomas, Mamer, and Haughey, as well as Bruno Law Offices.
Fourman was appointed to a two-year term on the Champaign City Council on June 16.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the attorney's firm.
