CARROLL COUNTY, Ky. — Four individuals were injured, two of whom were airlifted, following a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi on Interstate 71 on October 7 at approximately 4:25 p.m.
According to Carroll County Emergency Management Director Mike Ratliff, the incident involved four vehicles near the 47 mile marker. Emergency responders transported two victims by air to UofL Hospital, while another was taken to Norton Children's Hospital and a fourth individual was hospitalized locally in Carroll County.
Ratliff confirmed that one airlifted victim was trapped within their vehicle. While the person transported to Carroll County Hospital suffered minor injuries, the severity of the other injuries remains unverified.
Authorities reported no fatalities at the scene. The crash resulted in significant traffic delays on I-71, with backups persisting for several hours as the area was cleared.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
