Forrest County Investigator Dies in Motorcycle Accident
FORREST COUNTY, MS — Investigator Andretta English, 30, of the Forrest County Sheriff's Office, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, June 27.
The incident occurred while English was returning home after participating in a benefit ride for Covington County Deputy Yates Rodney, who was injured in the line of duty. According to authorities, the accident took place shortly after she assisted an off-duty officer who had been involved in a separate crash during the event.
English was transported to Forrest County Hospital but did not survive her injuries. “It is with profound sadness that we announce her passing,” Sheriff Charlie Sims stated.
Prior to the crash, Richland Police Officer James Alford, who was involved in the earlier accident, suffered serious road rash and fractures but is reportedly stable. English had stopped to provide life-saving aid to Alford before continuing home.
English joined the Forrest County Sheriff's Office in 2024 after serving as an EMT. She was known for her dedication to public service and her commitment to helping others.
Her funeral is scheduled for Friday, July 3, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a law enforcement escort from Moore Funeral to the Lake Terrace Convention Center for visitation and services.
Governor Tate Reeves expressed condolences on X, highlighting English's unwavering dedication to her community.
