WASHINGTON — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Sunday announced a nationwide recall of 1,392,935 Ford F-150 pickups over a transmission defect.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, affected 2015–2017 F-150 models can unexpectedly downshift into 2nd gear due to a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Authorities said dealers will update the powertrain control module software at no charge to owners.
The recall is listed as NHTSA Campaign No. 26V237000, according to the agency.
Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed April 27, 2026, with additional notices once the final remedy is available, anticipated in July 2026, the agency said.
