Five Killed in Early Morning Puyallup Crash

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Five individuals died in a one- crash early Sunday morning on SR 512 near South Hill Mall in Puyallup.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on eastbound State Route 512 near 104th St. E., involving a single SUV that reportedly left the road and struck a concrete pillar under the overpass. According to authorities, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames upon emergency crews' arrival.

One person was from the vehicle, while the remaining four were still inside. Emergency responders confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash but do not believe contributed to the incident. The Pierce County Medical Examiner will identify the victims.

All eastbound lanes of SR 512 were closed until approximately 1:00 p.m.
