NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — A man has been charged with a felony for operating a vehicle while impaired, marking his fifth offense.
Michael Kerhin, 40, was driving on U.S. 250 in Tuscarawas County when he crossed the median, hit a storm drain, and overturned in the westbound lanes. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on October 15.
Authorities reported that Kerhin is facing multiple charges: operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a vehicle under suspension, driving without a valid license, and failure to control. This charge reflects Kerhin's fifth Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) offense, which includes three previous convictions, one categorized as a felony.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and further details on any injuries or emergency response have not yet been released.
