Two Hospitalized After Fiery Crash in Harwich Early Thursday Morning
HARWICH, MA—Two people were hospitalized following a fiery crash at 1:39 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Queen Anne Road and Main Street.
According to the Harwich Fire Department, a 2010 Mercedes Benz reportedly struck a tree and burst into flames. A nearby resident assisted in extracting the passengers prior to emergency responders arriving, with the fire department noting the vehicle was fully engulfed when they arrived on the scene.
Authorities reported that one passenger escaped the vehicle independently and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. The driver was unresponsive but was rescued with the help of a good Samaritan. Both individuals are expected to recover.
Harwich Police are investigating the cause of the crash. No additional details regarding injuries have been confirmed.
Emergency response included units from the Harwich Fire Department and local police. The road was closed temporarily for safety and cleanup, but conditions have since returned to normal.
