Fatal Hit-and-Run in New Castle Under Investigation
A pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident on South Dupont Highway near Pulaski Highway on the evening of September 8.
Authorities reported that 38-year-old Antonio Almanza Leon was walking north in the southbound lanes when he was hit by a white Chevrolet Equinox. The impact threw him into a wooded area off the road. Emergency Medical Services discovered Almanza Leon shortly after the incident while responding to another call.
The vehicle involved has since been recovered at a residence and secured as part of the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed as of September 12.
