Fatal Accident on Highway 99 Claims One Life in Jackson County
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A single-vehicle accident on Highway 99 resulted in the death of a Gold Hill resident on September 8.
According to Oregon State Police, a Subaru Legacy driven by 26-year-old Cody Austin Jenkins veered off the road, crossed into northbound lanes, and plunged into the Rogue River. Jenkins was found deceased at the scene, with no other individuals in the vehicle.
The Jackson County Search and Rescue Team responded to assist with the retrieval of the submerged vehicle. The highway remained open during the investigation, which is ongoing.
Authorities received assistance from multiple local agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Rogue River Fire Department.
