Fatal crash on U.S. Highway 310 claims life of driver.

MISSOULA, Mont. — A fatal crash occurred Monday morning on U.S. Highway 310 near Rockvale, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The incident happened around 8:20 a.m. at mile marker 41. A Ford Fusion, driven by a 45-year-old woman from Billings, was heading south when it crossed into the northbound lane, striking a Kenworth truck head-on. The truck, driven by a 67-year-old man from Bridger, attempted to swerve to avoid the collision.

Following the impact, the Ford Fusion veered off the road to the right, while the Kenworth went off the left side, hitting a fence. The driver of the Ford Fusion was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Kenworth driver sustained minor injuries.

Authorities reported that road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and there is no indication that alcohol, drugs, or speed contributed to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
