BON HOMME COUNTY, SD — An Omaha man died Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash near Tyndall.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on July 27 at the intersection of Highway 37 and Highway 53, approximately 8 miles south of Tyndall.
According to preliminary reports, a 2020 Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on S.D. Highway 37 when a 2025 Honda Pilot, which had been stopped in the westbound lane of S.D. Highway 52, proceeded into the intersection. The Ford struck the Honda.
Emergency responders transported three individuals to a local hospital. The 49-year-old male driver of the Honda, from Omaha, succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, a 47-year-old female also from Omaha, was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 32-year-old male driver of the Ford, from Colman, suffered minor injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash. Names of those involved have not been released pending family notification. All information provided is preliminary.
