Two Killed, Infant Critically Injured in I-75 Crash on Mother's Day in Broward County

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A tragic crash on Interstate 75 claimed the lives of two women and left a 9-month-old girl critically injured on Sunday, May 14, around 10:45 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred on I-75 northbound near Mile Marker 20, involving five vehicles. Two women, aged 58 and 60, were traveling in a Pilot and did not survive the collision.

Emergency medical personnel transported four individuals to local hospitals via ground, while the infant was after suffering cardiac arrest at the scene. FHP officials confirmed the child remains in critical condition.

Witnesses reported that one of the involved drivers was assisting a family member whose vehicle had become disabled. Authorities arrested Cira Wuinones Lewis, the driver with a suspended license, for her involvement in the crash. She is also reportedly in the country illegally.

“This should be more than just a suspended license,” said Felipe Guzman, the husband of one of the victims. “Two beautiful souls passed, and my daughter's in critical condition.”

Guzman is asking for prayers for his family during this challenging time. A live prayer service is scheduled on TikTok for 8 p.m. tonight. The family has also launched a GoFundMe to support their needs following this tragic loss.

Investigations into the collision are ongoing, and lane closures were in place following the accident.
