WASHINGTON PARISH, La. — A tragic car accident on Highway 436 last week has claimed the life of 24-year-old Hayden Davis, according to state police.
Davis was reportedly attempting to pass his brother Clay Smith in a no-passing zone when both vehicles lost control. While Clay regained control, Davis' vehicle flipped. Clay witnessed the incident and rushed to assist, stating, “I watched the car flip… the only thing I could think of is to get to him.”
Hayden leaves behind his grandmother, fiancée, 3-year-old son, and unborn daughter. In the wake of this tragedy, the Smith family is organizing fundraising efforts to support Hayden's family.
Timothy Smith, Hayden's father figure, remarked, “We are going to try to do enough for them that they would be okay, at least for a couple of months.” Fundraisers include a car show scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at noon in the Junky Monkey parking lot in Franklinton. Proceeds will go towards a headstone for Hayden, as well as support for his family.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
