COLUMBUS, Ohio — Family members of victims from the April 11 I-71 Delaware County crash are asking political groups to remove ads using their images.
According to ABC 6/WSYX, Lynnea Soposki, her husband, Luke Soposki, and their 1-year-old son, Logan, were killed in a semi-truck crash on April 11 in Delaware County.
State troopers said the truck driver falsified his identity to obtain a commercial driver's license.
The family said a political ad targeting U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown used images of Lynnea, Luke and Logan and included crash footage, and they asked for the ad's removal.
A spokesperson for the Jon Husted campaign said the ad was paid for and produced by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and that the family's letters were forwarded to the NRSC.
In a statement, the NRSC said its ad campaigns would continue to hold Sen. Brown accountable. According to ABC 6/WSYX, the ad featuring the Soposki family has run its course and been replaced, but it remains available online.
When asked whether Husted knew of the ad or had contacted the family, the campaign did not respond, ABC 6/WSYX reported. Brown's campaign had not released a comment.
