Fatal Collision Involves Semi-Truck and SUV Near Mount Hood
Sept. 14, 2026, 9:16 p.m. PT – A head-on collision between a semi-truck and an SUV near Mount Hood resulted in two fatalities, according to Oregon State Police.
Dagoberto Moreno-Prada, 31, of Eugene, was driving a Volvo semi-truck eastbound on Highway 26 in Wasco County when he lost control while navigating a corner. The truck rolled into the westbound lane, striking a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by J Natividad Martinez-Colin, 35, of Vancouver, Washington.
Both vehicles ended up off the roadway after the impact, with the trailer's intermodal container dislodging and also coming to rest in the area. Emergency responders pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the highway experienced lane closures for approximately eight hours to facilitate an investigation and recovery efforts.
