A fatal one-vehicle crash occurred on July 22 just south of Silver Lake in northwest Shawnee County, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office.
The driver, identified as Van E. Hawkins, 87, of Silver Lake, was the sole occupant of the vehicle, said Deputy Abigail Christian, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:41 p.m. near NW 21st Street and Perry Road.
Authorities confirmed that the circumstances of the crash are under investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.
