Wamego Man Dies in Head-On Collision in Shawnee County
SHAWNEE COUNTY, KS — July 4, 2026 – A Wamego man died in a head-on crash at 7:52 a.m. on July 4, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Robert L. Kidd, 85, succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision on US-24 Highway near NW Countryside Road, approximately 4.5 miles east of Silver Lake.
Another driver, Zachary A. Obrock, 36, of Topeka, sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Lane closures were reported following the incident.
