A nine-vehicle crash at 6:27 p.m. April 11 on northbound I-71 near the U.S. 36/State Route 37 interchange in Delaware County killed three.

According to Muirfield Hospital, the victims were Dr. Lynnea Soposki, 36, her husband, Luke Soposki, 37, and their 1-year-old son.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer failed to stop as it approached a construction-zone traffic backup and struck vehicles.

Three other people were injured, the patrol said. I-71 was closed in both directions for several hours while crews cleared the scene, authorities said.

The patrol said the truck driver, Modou F. Ngom, 50, of Columbus, is charged with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide. He was arraigned April 13 and ordered held on $500,000 bond. Additional charges are possible, authorities said.
