RIDGELAND, Miss. — A section of Interstate 55 was closed Thursday afternoon due to a serious crash involving a blue Dodge Challenger.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on I-55 South, near the Lake Harbour overpass. As of 3:45 p.m., three of the four lanes remained sluggishly moving.
Authorities report the Challenger ran off the road and overturned. A medical helicopter was dispatched and landed on the interstate, transporting the driver to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. No fatalities have been reported.
