CENTERVILLE, Utah (KUTV) — A driver suffered minor injuries after colliding with a Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) incident management truck on Interstate 15 at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday.
According to UDOT spokesperson John Gleason, the incident occurred while the truck was assisting a stranded motorist. Photographs from the scene indicated significant damage to the front passenger side of the SUV and the rear driver's side of the UDOT truck.
Emergency crews closed three of four southbound lanes to clear the wreckage and conduct an investigation. All lanes have since reopened.
The damaged UDOT truck was towed to the traffic operations center in Salt Lake. Gleason noted this was the second instance of a UDOT vehicle being struck in 24 hours; a separate incident involving a vehicle working on Express Lanes in Utah County occurred on Sunday night, though additional details were not immediately available.
