Driver Charged After Car Crash Ignites Fire and Causes Lane Closures in HRBT.

HAMPTON, Va. — A driver has been charged following a crash in the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

At approximately 4:38 a.m., a Charger reportedly crashed into an and a box truck while on I-64 eastbound within the HRBT. The Charger became airborne and subsequently caught fire, as detailed by VSP.

The driver of the Charger sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Charges of have been filed against them.

Traffic was diverted to Settlers Landing Exit 267 during the emergency response, and the incident is currently under investigation, according to VSP.
