HAMPTON, Va. — A driver has been charged following a multi-vehicle crash in the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police.
At approximately 4:38 a.m., a Dodge Charger reportedly crashed into an SUV and a box truck while speeding on I-64 eastbound within the HRBT. The Charger became airborne and subsequently caught fire, as detailed by VSP.
The driver of the Charger sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Charges of reckless driving have been filed against them.
Traffic was diverted to Settlers Landing Exit 267 during the emergency response, and the incident is currently under investigation, according to VSP.
