Vehicle Crash in East River Claims Life Monday Night
A vehicle crashed into the East River at N and Newcastle streets on Monday night, resulting in at least one fatality, Brunswick Police Chief Kevin Jones confirmed.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Officials reported that the vehicle was submerged in the river following the collision. Emergency responders from the Brunswick Police Department and the local fire service were dispatched to the scene to conduct recovery efforts.
Authorities confirmed that one individual was found deceased inside the vehicle. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. No additional injuries were reported.
As a result of the crash, N Street was temporarily closed to facilitate recovery operations and an investigation into the incident. Authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
