ORANGE COUNTY, Texas (TNND) — An 18-wheeler carrying hundreds of beehives overturned Sunday morning in a neighborhood, releasing millions of honeybees, officials said.
According to Orange County Emergency Services, residents were urged to stay indoors because of a heavy presence of bees in the area.
Authorities said that by Sunday afternoon, crews were working to safely transfer the hives onto transport trucks for relocation to a local honey farm.
Local beekeepers and volunteers assisted with containment and recovery efforts, authorities said.
Officials reported no serious injuries.
Only one vehicle was involved. Officials did not immediately release the cause of the overturn or the exact roadway.
No lane closure or towing information was immediately available. Authorities said additional details will be released as they are confirmed.
