COLUMBIA, MO — A man was arrested Thursday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, at 4:23 p.m. on September 25, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gold Kia Sorento with dark-tinted windows along I-70, near mile marker 129. Upon exiting their patrol vehicle, the driver, later identified as Elijah Tyree Fox-Brown, fled the scene.
The pursuit lasted approximately 16 minutes, during which Fox-Brown exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour and discarded a bag containing a white substance near Creasy Springs Road. At the intersection of Range Line Street and Rain Forest Parkway, he collided with two stopped vehicles before attempting to turn west onto Nebraska Avenue from Providence Road. Fox-Brown lost control and struck two additional cars.
Fox-Brown was apprehended and transported to Boone County Jail. The white substance he discarded was later tested, weighing one gram and confirmed to be cocaine. He faces charges of Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
