Crash in Madison County leaves one dead and one injured.

MADISON COUNTY — A crash in Madison County on Wednesday afternoon resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.

The incident occurred in the 2300 block of E CR800N around 4 p.m. A blue 1999 Mercury Sable, driven by 37-year-old Darren Lockhart of Anderson, was reported traveling westbound when it began weaving in and out of the roadway.

The vehicle exited the road, striking a ditch and guardrail. Authorities stated that neither Lockhart nor the passenger, 32-year-old Robert Cantrall of Anderson, were wearing seat belts and both were from the vehicle.

Lockhart was at the scene, while Cantrall sustained serious head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash. No further details on lane closures or towing have been released.
