Candlelight Vigil Held for Jupiter Teen and Grandmother Killed in Crash
JUPITER FARMS, Fla. — A candlelight vigil took place on [insert date] for 16-year-old Jade North and her grandmother, Deidre North, following their tragic deaths in a crash over the weekend.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported that Deidre, 77, failed to stop at a stop sign on Randolph Siding Road when their vehicle was struck by a truck. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members described Jade as a talented artist and remembered Deidre, affectionately known as “Dee-Dee,” for her loving nature and strong family values. “She raised us to love each other,” said her son, Brian North.
In light of the tragedy, family members are advocating for improved traffic safety, specifically calling for the intersection to be designated as a four-way stop. “Safety needs to come first. The county must be responsible,” Juanita North, Jade's mother, stated.
Residents have raised concerns about frequent speeding in the area. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which has sparked community discussions regarding road safety improvements.
Juanita also made an emotional plea for the driver of the truck to come forward, emphasizing the need for closure. “I am begging and pleading… we need it,” she said.
The community and the North family are hoping that their loss will lead to positive change in local traffic enforcement measures.
