Three Eaton Graduates Killed in Rollover Crash in Weld County
WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Three recent graduates from Eaton High School were killed in a rollover crash on Saturday evening.
The Weld County Coroner identified the victims as Cash Allen Rinker, 20; Jack David Dirksen, 19; and Christopher Nider, 19, all from the area. The crash occurred around 5:18 p.m. at the intersection of Weld County Road 80 and Weld County Road 39, according to authorities.
Preliminary findings from the Colorado State Patrol indicated that a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Weld County Road 80 at a high rate of speed before losing control and rolling several times. All five occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
A 20-year-old male from Wyoming, the driver, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A fourth passenger, also a 19-year-old from Eaton, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The current condition of the driver has not been released.
The crash has prompted an outpouring of support from the Eaton community. A spokesperson for the Eaton School District expressed condolences to the families and friends affected by this tragedy.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. No further details have been confirmed at this time.
