Coroner Identifies Body of Decatur Woman Swept Away by Floodwaters Following Crash Near Fithian.

FITHIAN — The body of a woman reportedly swept away by floodwaters after her vehicle entered a ditch has been identified.

On Wednesday, Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden confirmed the identity as 20-year-old Jaquincia Comage of Decatur.

Illinois State Police were called at 10 a.m. Tuesday regarding an unoccupied vehicle belonging to a missing person near the intersection of Illinois 49 and County Road 2100 N, about 5 miles north of Fithian. Upon arrival, troopers located the in a ditch with visible water damage.

An extensive multi-agency search led to the discovery of Ms. Comage's body on a riverbank several miles from the initial site.

Authorities are continuing the investigation into the incident.
