Chrysler Issues Recall for Jeep Cherokee Vehicles Due to Powertrain Risk
Chrysler has announced a recall of over 61,000 Jeep Cherokee vehicles due to a potential powertrain failure, affecting models from 2019 to 2023.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall pertains to certain Jeep Cherokee SUVs that may have a defective Power Transfer Unit (PTU). This defect can result in a loss of drive power and, in some instances, unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of crashes and injuries.
An estimated 61,711 vehicles are impacted by this recall. Chrysler, a division of FCA US LLC, is currently developing a remedy for the issue. Owners will receive notification letters starting June 25, outlining the safety concerns. A second notice will follow once a fix is officially available.
While the repair solution is underway, affected owners are advised to contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 40D for further information. Vehicle identification numbers related to the recall will be searchable on the NHTSA website starting May 14.
