Location: United States

Chrysler has recalled more than 61,000 Jeep Cherokee SUVs due to a potential powertrain failure.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects 2019 through 2023 models. The vehicles may contain a defective power transfer unit (PTU) that could fail, resulting in a loss of drive power and potentially causing unintended vehicle movement.

Authorities confirmed the recall covers approximately 61,711 vehicles. Chrysler, a unit of FCA US LLC, is currently developing a remedy for the issue. Owners will receive notification letters starting June 25, detailing the safety risk, with a follow-up notice once a fix is available.

In the meantime, owners can reach out to FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number 40D. Vehicle identification numbers linked to this recall will be searchable on the NHTSA website beginning May 14.
