Child Fatally Injured in Solo Car Crash on I-25 North of Walsenburg, According to CSP.

One person died in a single- crash on northbound Interstate 25 on Thursday, according to Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

A juvenile girl, a passenger in the vehicle, was at the scene. CSP reported that she was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred at milepost 60 when the driver, a 31-year-old woman, reportedly failed to negotiate a right curve and veered off the road. The vehicle collided with several road signs, causing a rear door to open and ejecting the girl, officials stated.

The driver and another juvenile passenger were transported to a local hospital, though the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The CSP's Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, and no cause has been determined at this time.

The highway reopened around 6:35 p.m., according to the release.
