CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A north Charleston couple has been without power for over eight days following an accident involving a cement truck.
Michelle-Lael Norsworthy and her husband, Frank Foreaker, reported that the truck from Pavement Solutions struck their home, damaging the roof and pulling down the electrical line. According to Norsworthy, workers from the company apologized at the scene and promised to fix the damage, but later declined when the repair costs were revealed.
“I love West Virginia and I love the people of West Virginia,” Norsworthy stated, despite the difficult circumstances. The couple is struggling with food spoilage as they have no means to cook due to the power outage. Frank Foreaker, who relies on a CPAP machine for health issues, has been forced to stay at a hotel.
Foreaker described hearing a crash but not seeing the truck due to its position outside. Witnesses reported that repair workers left without addressing the damage. Norsworthy emphasized that responsibility for the low-hanging line lies with the truck’s driver and crew, stating, “They know there are low lines on these roads.”
As of Wednesday morning, no response has been received from Pavement Solutions regarding the incident, and local utility companies did not provide further information.
